Carving? Casting? Sculpting the Novel: A Later-Draft Workshop
You’ve drafted a novel—whether it took a month for NaNoWriMo or the better part of a lifetime. You see its potential, you want to keep living in its world, and maybe, even, you’d like to make it publishable. In fact, maybe that was your goal all along. Now what? In this class, we’ll read each other’s fully drafted novels and help each other begin or complete a second (or later) draft. Authors such as John Gardner (“Becoming a Novelist”) and Sol Stein (“How to Grow a Novel”) or books on structure such as Dancyger and Rush’s “Alternative Scriptwriting” may be consulted for their wisdom.
