“Home, home, I knew it entering.” That's not just a line from a Richard Hugo poem; it's how a lot of us feel when we walk into Richard Hugo House. Around here there are quiet corners for reading, classes that teach us new writing habits or bolster old ones, events that remind us why we love words and writing buddies who share our zeal.
If you write or read, you're no stranger here, no matter how young or old you are, where you're from or where you're going. Hugo House is a home built for writers and readers by writers and readers, supported by—you guessed it—writers and readers.
This is your tribe. Join us.
At Hugo House you'll find space to write, inspiring teachers, new writing buddies, moments of wonder, afternoons of learning, evenings of spellbinding events, old friends, 20,000 zines, the best cheap glass of wine on 11th Avenue, writers-in-residence, friendly Hugo staff and lots of manual typewriters.
If that sounds like a ring you'd like to throw your hat into, we invite you to get involved. Become a member. Volunteer. There are many doors into Hugo House. Pick one or two (or three!) and come on in.
