To propose a class, please download our teacher manual and refer to pages 4 through 6 for detailed instructions on how to structure your proposal and what materials to include.

Course Proposal Submission Deadlines for 2010

  • Winter 2010: September 4 2009. Classes begin January 26, 2010;
  • Spring 2010: December 4, 2009. Classes begin April 6, 2010;
  • Summer 2010: March 5, 2010. Classes begin July 6, 2010;
  • Fall 2010: June 4, 2010. Classes begin October 5, 2010.

Logistical Information

  • Multi-week classes may be scheduled during these times: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.; Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 4-6 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.; and Saturdays 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
  • One-day classes are generally four hours and meet on Saturday afternoons from 1-5 p.m. We occasionally run longer one-day workshops on Sundays or two-day seminars, depending on space availability. If you would like to propose this type of class, please provide dates and times you would like to teach.
  • All classes are held at Hugo House (unless off-site resources are an integral class component.)
  • Generally, class limits are set at a maximum of 15 and a minimum of 5. If fewer than five students register for a class, it will be cancelled. If you prefer a different minimum enrollment, please indicate that on your proposal.
  • A pre-term teacher meeting will be scheduled a week or two before classes start.
  • Each quarter concludes with a student reading, which teachers are encouraged to attend and let students know about.
