Theater
Richard Hugo House has a black box theater that seats 86 with additional folding chairs available to seat up to 125. The theater has a small PA and programmable light console with a variety of lighting fixtures.
The theater is available for rental by application. Richard Hugo House seeks theater companies whose mission is in harmony with our own and who can show they have an experienced technical staff. Rental priority will be given to productions of three weeks or longer. Shorter bookings may become available.
The rental rate for any technical or non-performance rehearsals is $216/day, which includes load-in and strike dates. The theater is available on technical rental days between noon and 9 p.m. The rental rate for performances is $330, not including technical staff. The performance rate will be charged for any event with an audience. A performance is defined as a minimum five hour rental, with additional hours available at $66/hr, no later than 11 p.m. Rental fees are due in advance of a production. Renters will be charged a refundable cleaning deposit.
Hugo House is closed on Sundays. Rentals scheduled on Sundays will be charged an additional $15/hr security fee to cover the cost of staff. Rentals are not available before noon, after 11 p.m. or on holidays.
Hugo House also has a café on the first floor adjacent to the Cabaret which may be opened for events in the Cabaret or theater for an additional fee. The café offers coffee, tea, wine, beer, cocktails, soft drinks and snacks. Profits from café sales benefit Hugo House programming. If an event is occurring in the Cabaret/café, the theater is not available for rent.
Concurrent rentals of multiple spaces within Hugo House will incur additional fees for an onsite manager.
