rebecca-agiewichWhat is the title of your class?

Roughing It: A Draft of Your Book in Just 6 Weeks

People should take this class if…

There’s a novel or memoir they’re  burning to write but just haven’t been able to complete that first draft.

Can your students connect with you on social media? If so, how?

Are any of your works online and available to the public?

Yep! My novel BreakupBabe is available in paperback or Kindle from Amazon and also from Seattle and King county libraries. Articles, essays, and other fun stuff can be found on my website.

What’s your teaching philosophy?

Reward people with chocolate.

If you could have any famous actor read one of your pieces to you, who would it be and why?

Drew Barrymore would be perfect for the lead in BreakupBabe when it finally gets to the big screen. And Ryan Gosling would play one of the love interests, naturally.

What are you currently working on?

A funny middle-grade novel about a nerdy bookworm kid whose life is taken over by a character from a forgotten 19th century novel.

What’s your favorite “rule” of writing to break in your own writing?

Occasionally I use adverbs. Also, my earlier drafts are riddled with clichéd language. Today, while writing, I described a dream as “disappearing in a puff of smoke.”

What are you reading now? If you could pair it with a beverage (alcoholic or otherwise), what would you choose?

I’m reading Shoot, Don’t Shoot by the compulsively readable, highly prolific, bestselling writer J.A. Jance. She writes cop/detective stories – with one series set in Seattle and one in Arizona. I like the Arizona ones. Prickly pear margarita with that please.
