People should take this class if…
… they are looking to generate brand new work.
Can your students connect with you on social media? If so, how?
Are any of your works online and available to the public?
A short story in Guernica, a story on Liars’ League New York, and a poem in The Monarch Review. In print, there’s The Monarch Review, The Iowa Review, and The Free State Review.
What’s your teaching philosophy?
Hips low, elbows tight, hands up.
If you could only bring one novel, story, or poem to a deserted island, which would you bring and why?
I would bring Frank O’Hara’s Lunch Poems because it’s easy to pack.
What are you currently working on?
I am working on a novel about NCAA wrestling.
If there was one piece of advice you could give an aspiring writer, what would it be?
Keep a diary.
What do you like best about Hugo House?
I love being there. I don’t get to go that often, and I always run into friends and meet new people.
What are you reading now? If you could pair it with a beverage (alcoholic or otherwise), what would you choose?
I’m reading my friend Treg’s book, Ripping off the Cover. I’d pair it with one of his beer floats.
