SUMMARY:A stage reading from some of O'Neill's greatest plays
DESCRIPTION:Global Works and Hugo House present: a staged reading of selective scenes from Eugene O'Neill's masterworks. \n \nEugene Gladstone O'Neill (October 16\, 1888 – November 27\, 1953) was an American playwright whose plays were among the first to introduce into the U.S. the drama techniques of realism\, earlier associated with Chekhov\, Ibsen\, and Strindberg. He wrote thirty full length plays between 1914 and 1942 and his tragedy "Long Day's Journey into Night" is considered by many to be one of the finest American plays of the 20th century. He was awarded the 1936 Nobel Prize in Literature and the 1957 Tony Award for Best Play. O'Neill is also the only playwright to win four Pulitzer Prizes for Drama. \n \n \nGlobal Works' Mission Statement: \n– To present\, through theater\, an affirmative vision of what our world can be. \n– To produce live classical and contemporary theatrical works of exceptional quality that are timely\, thought-provoking\, entertaining and accessible to the theater going public in our community. \n– To empower emerging artists and seasoned artists through mentorship and communal collaboration to ensure the theater world has well-trained and disciplined artists to carry on the theatrical story telling tradition. \n \nOur Vision is: \n– To build a vibrant local theater-going community that values the richness and the commonality of perspectives in all cultures of the world.
