DESCRIPTION:Based on the biblical story\, David & Jonathan is about homophobia\, particularly in the Black church\, and its impact on the Black community. It is told from the perspective of David\, a Kirk Franklin-type gospel singer\, and Jonathan who runs the family’s iconic record label and is the music director and son of the pastor of the Holy Kingdom Bapt Church. The play is reset in a modern context and translated into the hierarchy of a local megachurch\, the fictional Holy Kingdom Baptist Church\, pastored by Rev.
