I Am Not Trying to Hide My Hungers From the World: Kendra DeColo and Michelle Tea

In celebration of DeColo’s new poetry collection I Am Not Trying to Hide My Hungers From the World, Kendra DeColo and Michelle Tea will read from their works and discuss writing, motherhood, and all things magic.


About the Authors

Kendra DeColo is the author of I Am Not Trying to Hide My Hungers From the World (BOA Editions, 2021), My Dinner with Ron Jeremy (Third Man Books, 2016) and Thieves in the Afterlife (Saturnalia Books, 2014), selected by Yusef Komunyakaa for the 2013 Saturnalia Books Poetry Prize. She is also co-author of Low Budget Movie (Diode, 2021) written with Tyler Mills. She has received awards and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, MacDowell, the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference, the Millay Colony, and has performed at comedy clubs and music venues including the Newport Folk Festival. She lives in Nashville, Tennessee.


Michelle Tea is the critically acclaimed author of the PEN Award-winning essay collection Against Memoir and a 2021 Guggenheim Fellow. She is also author of fourteen other books including the popular tarot how-to Modern Tarot, How to Grow Up, Valencia, and Knocking Myself Up which is forthcoming from Dey Street. She is the founder of Mutha Magazine, Drag Queen Story Hour, and has produced thousands of other live events throughout the U.S. and around the world. She is the host of the podcast Your Magic and lives in Los Angeles, CA.
