Mare Nostrum Reading and Release Party
Join literary journal Mare Nostrum (Latin for “Our Sea”) for a lively and diverse poetry reading, fabulous door prizes, and festive times celebrating the latest issue. The evening is MC’d by Sierra Nelson and Johnny Horton, remarks from Richard Kenney and Kevin Craft, graced by Carol Light as our Muse of Awards. The event is free, all ages, and open to all.
Mare Nostrum features creative writing inspired by the Mediterranean (“contemporary writers, classical muses”) as well as (newly) the Salish Sea, connecting to U.W.’s Creative Writing Programs in Rome and in Friday Harbor. The newest Mare Nostrum issue includes work by a talented array of undergraduate and MFA students, accomplished writing fellows recent and past, and distinguished faculty–many of whom will be sharing their work at this event.
