SUMMARY:Scripts in Progress
DESCRIPTION:Open Mic for Playwrights \nNovember 12\, 2026 \n7:00 – 9:00 pm \n \nWelcome to this special Open Mic Night for Playwrights where writers bring the writing\, and the audience does the reading! We encourage dramatic writers of all experience levels to share their work in this low-pressure\, welcoming\, and exciting evening of scene readings. \n \nHow does it work? \n\nPlaywrights bring scenes up to 5 pages with 2 – 3 characters.\nAnyone who attends may put their name on the signup sheet at the front desk starting at 6 pm to be randomly selected to read a role.\nSignup is on a first-come basis and begins at check-in.\nThere are two sets of readings with 8 playwrights per set for a total of 16 scenes.\nThere is a brief intermission\, approximately 15 minutes\, between the two groupings of readers.\nPlaywrights will introduce their scenes and read their own stage directions.\nNames will be randomly selected with our "wheel of fate" to read the roles.\nAfter each scene\, there will be a raucous applause for both playwrights and readers.\n\nBut don’t worry\, you don’t have to read! Guests and audience members are encouraged to sit back and enjoy the show. \nWanna attend? \nDoors open an hour before showtime (7:00 pm show\, doors open at 6:00 pm). \nSign-up for scenes is on a first-come basis and begins at check-in. \nAudience may signup to be a reader when they check-in. \n \nFree admission to this event is made possible with support from 4Culture.
