Readings begin at 7:30 pm. \n  \nAbout the Readers\n\nShelby Handler is a writer\, organizer and educator living in Seattle on Dxʷdəwʔabš (Duwamish) and unceded Coast Salish land. Recent poems have appeared or are forthcoming in Poetry Northwest\, PANK\, Sugar House Review\, the Journal\, among others. Shelby was nominated for the 2020 Best of the Net and was a finalist for Palette Poetry’s Emerging Poet Prize\, judged by Ilya Kaminsky. They have received fellowships and grants from the Richard Hugo House\, Seattle Office of Arts & Culture\, Gay City Arts\, Asylum Arts and the Yiddish Book Center. \nMartha Ryan is a first-year MFA student at the University of Washington. Her work has recently appeared in Foglifter. \nRae Paris is a Black writer from Carson\, California\, with roots extending to New Orleans. She is the author of The Forgetting Tree: A Rememory and coeditor of Education in Movement Spaces: Standing Rock to Chicago Freedom Square. Her work has been supported by an NEA Literature Fellowship\, and residencies from Wurlitzer Foundation\, Hambidge\, Hedgebrook\, and many others. She is associate faculty in English and affiliated faculty with the Banks Center for Educational Justice at the University of Washington.
