100 Thousand Poets for Change

Richard Hugo House and SPLAB team up to present the Seattle micro-event of 100 Thousand Poets for Change, a global event with nearly 700 events planned in 115 countries bringing poets together to call for environmental, social and political change.

The afternoon will include a marathon of readings from dozens of local poets including Kelli Russell Agodon, Mark Anderson, Elizabeth Austen, Anna Bálint, Janée J. Baugher, Greg Bem, Nilki Benítez, David Biespiel, Andrew Bleeker, Matt Briggs, John Burgess, Bill Carty, Elizabeth J. Colen, Kerry Cox, Kevin Craft, Larry Crist, Raanan David, Elaina M. Ellis, Amber Flame, Kathleen Flenniken, Jeannine Hall Gailey, Laura Gamache, Felicia Gonzalez, Chris Gusta, Esther Altshul Helfgott, Paul Hunter, Ryan Johnson, Jourdan Keith, Aaron Kokorowski, Jared Leising, Priscilla Long, Rebecca A. The reading is free, and Hugo House’s bar will be open serving beer, wine and spirits throughout the day. Following the readings, an after party will be held at  Vermillion, an art gallery/wine bar.

Co-Founder Michael Rothenberg is a widely known poet, editor of the online literary magazine Bigbridge.org and an environmental activist based in Northern California. Terri Carrion is a poet, translator, photographer, and editor and visual designer for BigBridge.org.
