BOOST: Poetry to Uplift Your Spirits (A benefit for Tara Hardy)
Hugo House writer-in-residence and beloved author, Tara Hardy, needs our help. In January 2012, Tara had been in the hospital with a life-threatening, undiagnosed health condition. Since that time, Tara has been admitted to the hospital three more times and spent the better part of the year fighting to stay alive, not the least of which was undergoing chemotherapy. Tara’s community is coming together to help alleviate some of the financial burden she faces. She is currently undergoing a rigorous two-year treatment, the cost of which not covered by health insurance is $18,000 per year.
On May 31st at Richard Hugo House, Tara’s friends and colleagues will host a benefit to raise funds. BOOST: Poetry to Uplift Your Spirits will feature a line-up of Tara’s nearest and dearest, reading feel-good poems for this great cause.
