The title\, “White Noise\,” comes from the fact that literature by queer people of color has the ability to break through the historical barriers of literature. It is presented in conjunction with Shade Literary Arts. \nThis round of the series will feature writers Jalayna Carter and Dujie Tahat. \n  \nAbout the Readers\n\n\nFrom St. Louis\, MO\, Jalayna Carter studied literature and journalism in the Midwest before moving to Seattle and pursuing nonprofit communications. The 2018 Jack Straw Writers Fellow and 2019 Artist Trust GAP recipient is fascinated by experimental trends in poetry. Her work has appeared in Five:2:One\, Dryland\, Puerto Del Sol\, Reality Beach\, the 2Leaf Press anthology Black Lives Have Always Mattered\, and the 2018 Jack Straw Writers Anthology\, among other publications forthcoming. Currently\, she reads poetry for the Pacific Northwest-focused literary journal Moss. More of her work lives at www.JalaynaCarter.com. \nDujie Tahat is a Filipino-Jordanian-American writer and political hack from Washington State. His poems have been published or are forthcoming in Arcturus\, Cascadia Rising Review\, Across the Margin\, Crab Creek Review\, and the American Journal of Poetry. His essays on poetry and politics have appeared in the Seattle Review of Books and Civic Skunk Works. He serves as poetry editor for Pacific Northwest literary magazine Moss and has earned a fellowship from the Jack Straw Writing Program. A former Seattle Poetry Slam Finalist\, collegiate grand slam champion\, and Seattle Youth Speaks Grand Slam Champion\, representing Seattle at HBO’s Brave New Voices.
