Q: What’s been your experience so far writing songs on the theme “People Will Talk”?
A: I write the songs in transit between work & home and test them out on pigeons, walls, lightrail security, etc.
Q: Has a rumor ever been spread about you? If so, what did you do about it?
A: Not that I know of, so let’s start one: I wash my hair with blood.
Q: How do you approach writing a new song — whether self-started or based on a prompt?
A: I start with a melody, a lyric, or an instrument, shape the rest hastily and try not to go into second draft.
Q: Tell us why you think people should attend the Lit Series.
A: I read and enjoyed some Richard Bausch and Roxane Gay, and already dig Kary Wayson’s work, so as long as I hold up my end, this should be the greatest single arts event of the past 12,000 years.
