Envisioning the Future
In celebration of the 1962 World’s Fair in Seattle, Isaac Asimov wrote an essay about what he imagined the world 0f 2014 would look like – flying cars and kitchens that cook your meals for you, etc. Some predictions were right on, some not so much, and students will dissect this essay to understand why he made these predictions. Then students will make their own predictions about what they think the future might hold in the fields of medicine, transportation, the environment, education, and others to use as inspiration for their own short sci-fi story.
