Introduction to Narrative Nonfiction [Nina Shapiro]

Seattle has never been more full of stories. But how do you find them? And once you do, how do you turn them into compelling, in-depth narratives that interweave characters with analysis and context? In this class, we’ll brainstorm story ideas and learn the fundamentals of how to flesh them out. We’ll discuss the all-important element of structure and key techniques like effective interviewing, creating scenes, and building tension.
