Introductory Poetry Workshop [Judith Roche]
Beginning. In this workshop, we’ll be reading poems to act as a springboard for generating new poems. Students will not only create new poems, but perhaps be introduced to poets and forms they might not already know. The class will include critiquing individual poems and using these critiques as opportunities for short lessons, addressing issues of craft raised by the poems we’re reading, and paying special attention to Pound’s Elements of Poetry: phanopoeia, melopoeia, and logopoeia.
