Seeing Beyond Stereotypes

In crafting literary works that delve into characters from diverse communities, the writer has an obligation to their readers to avoid the pitfalls of stereotypes. One way to avoid stereotypes is to learn to see people in their full humanity. In this course, we will examine portraiture of diverse people. We will use writing prompts to engage with the images in our attempt to write beyond stereotypes.
