All Levels. Find your own path to writing funny prose by bouncing comedic ideas off a supportive and receptive audience. This class will function much like a TV writers’ room or comedy club green room, with peers offering insight, alternate takes, and encouragement. Students will learn basic techniques then brainstorm, generate, and discuss their work. We’ll explore surefire methods of “punch-up” to wring maximum hilarity from the page. Students may try their hand at a variety of genres from listicles to fake news articles to personal essays and sketches. There will be much laughter.
Due to COVID-19, all classes will take place online-either through Zoom or through Wet Ink, our asynchronous learning platform-through Winter quarter 2021.
All times are listed in Pacific Time.
