Influence as Inspiration

All Levels | Nothing breeds writing anxiety like comparing ourselves to others, especially to writers we admire. But what if we look at our influences not as impossible standards but as wellsprings of inspiration? This course will combine close readings focused on craft decisions with assignments encouraging you to allow another writer’s style, form, or ethos to influence your work. You’ll generate new material, try your hand at “revision under the influence,” and receive extensive feedback on at least one piece.
