Let poetry be your vehicle on a (virtual) art tour! From Anne Sexton’s Van Gogh poem to Shayla Lawson’s “literary cover album” of singer Frank Ocean, students will journey together and draw inspiration from various art mediums to write their own ekphrastic poems. Students will leave this class with 3-5 art-inspired poems that employ devices such as repetition, metaphor/simile, personification, and more to develop their curiosity, confidence, and poetic voice.
