All Levels | Does your memoir potentially impact those around you (family, friends, colleagues, community)? Does it involve digging at tough issues? We’ll tackle how writing memoir affects who appears on the page, including self. We’ll generate material, and read and discuss published work. Students will have opportunity to receive instructor feedback on their writing. We’ll examine structure (from overarching whole to building blocks of sentences), scene, dialogue, creating an image pattern, infusion and management of tension, and other important elements of craft.
Tara Hardy is the working class queer femme poet who founded Bent, a writing institute for LGBTIQ people in Seattle. She's taught creative writing for fourteen years, and she's served as the Hugo House writer-in-residence. Her first full length book of poems, Bring Down the Chandeliers, was published by Write Bloody Press in the spring, 2011.
