DIY Publishing Series: Author as Designer

In this seminar, Powerpoint presentations will showcase the visual elements that make a book look beautiful, marketable and professional. Identify the elements of a successful cover. Learn how to find and work with a graphic artist. Review the elements of interior design: front/back matter, page design elements and typographical conventions. Review print production methods and tools (DOC, PDF and InDesign), including a step by step demonstration using Word. Handouts: Design templates for Word, collaboration templates, resource checklist.
