2013 Washington State Book Awards Party

Join us for a party to celebrate winners and finalists for the 2013 Washington State Book Awards.

The Washington Center for the Book, The Seattle Public Library Foundation and Richard Hugo House would like to invite everyone to a party featuring book award winners Amanda Coplin, Kathleen Flenniken, Tmothy Egan, David R. Montgomery, Barbara Kerley, and J. Anderson Coats, as well as a few of the finalists for the award.

The 2013 Washington State Book Awards recognize outstanding books published by Washington authors in 2012 in the categories of fiction, poetry, memoir/biography, and history/general nonfiction for adults. The Scandiuzzi Children’s Book Award honors a children’s picture book, a book for early readers (ages 6 to 9), and a book for middle grades and young adults (ages 10 to 18).

Fiction: “The Orchardist” by Amanda Coplin

Poetry: “Plume” by Kathleen Flenniken

Biography/Memoir: “Short Nights of the Shadow Catcher: The Epic Life and Immortal Photographs of Edward Curtis” by Timothy Egan

History/General Nonfiction: “The Rocks Don’t Lie: A Geologist Investigates Noah’s Flood” by David R. Montgomery

Picture Book: “Those Rebels: John & Tom” by Barbara Kerley, illustrated by Edwin Fotheringham

Book for Young Adults: “The Wicked and the Just” by J. Anderson Coats

Thanks to generous support of The Seattle Public Library Foundation, Eulalie and Carlo Scandiuzzi and Grace Nordhoff, the authors of the award-winning books and the illustrator of the picture book will each receive a $500 honorarium.
