Don’t Sign That Contract—Until You Hear This
Since 1912, the Authors Guild has provided members with the tools we need to be successful, the most famous of which is free contract evaluation.
For one time only, the Seattle chapter of the guild is proud to offer an evening of legal advice for guild members and nonmembers, featuring two exceptional lawyers from our national office in New York.
Mary Rasenberger, our executive director, has more than twenty years’ experience as an intellectual property attorney, including a stint at the Library of Congress Copyright Office; and Umair Kazi is the guild’s legal consultant.
Together, they’ll tell us how a publishing contract contains as many pitfalls as paragraphs, and what, if anything, you can do to protect yourself. Their presentation, which will focus on the guild’s Model Contract, will last about forty minutes, with questions afterward. A social hour will follow.
