Writing resources — accessible to all.
Anyone can be a writer, and we strongly believe in making the craft of writing accessible, regardless of one’s ability to pay for courses. Our free courses, programs, events, and resources are a critical part of our work to make Hugo House more equitable. We encourage anyone who is interested in writing or reading to take advantage of our free offerings.
Interested in our class catalog? We also offer scholarships for paid classes.
Free Courses
Each quarter, Hugo House offers new, free courses on various topics. These courses fill up quickly, so don’t hesitate to register!
Free Community Programs
We strive to be more than a place to take classes. We are a place where writers and readers of all experience levels and backgrounds can gather, connect, and learn from each other. To help facilitate that, we offer numerous programs for anyone looking to explore the written word. Some of these programs are application-based, and many open to the entire Seattle writing community, but all are free.
Free Events
We offer more than 100 events each year—most of which are free. Whether you want to join us for a reading, discussion, craft talk, or interview, you can find these events and more featuring renowned authors, emerging writers, and talented new and local voices.
