When we say we want our classes to be for everyone, we mean it.
Instructor: Beth Jusino. Build your audience before you publish your book exploring the practical and realistic ways to gather a community using websites, mailing lists, social and traditional media, influencers, and more.
Instructor: Jaye Viner. In this class, students will study and discuss different approaches to descriptive language through craft lectures and generative writing prompts.
Instructor: Jasmine Griffin. In this class, participants will discuss four subgenres of horror and analyze four short horror fiction pieces, learning how to apply techniques from the texts to their own work.
Instructor: Meghan Lamb. This class will include readings, exercises, and conversations to explore how non-human perspectives can help us access the most essential elements of our humanity.
Instructor: Tina Tocco. For adult, middle grade, or YA fiction writers, this generative fiction workshop will use images, lists, sounds, brainstorming, and other prompts to help get your mind whirling and fingers flying.
Instructor: Alle Hall. Learn about the evolving publishing industry—money, queries, agents, and more—and generate fiction using writing exercises, peer and teacher feedback, and more. Leave with a solid draft of one piece, two query letters, and a system for tracking submissions.
Instructor: Tara Campbell. Explore the genre of flash fiction and create your own compact masterpieces, with reading and discussions around the definition of flash fiction, fundamentals of storytelling within the constraints of flash, and more.
Instructor: Lauren Davis. Participants will explore and write to prompts inspired by Mary Oliver's writing advice and craft.
Instructor: Ingrid Ricks. Tap into the healing power of personal narrative and learn how to identify, structure, and develop your story, with writing assignments and individual coaching sessions with the instructor.
Instructor: Naa Akua. Designed for writers looking to immerse themselves in diverse forms of poetic expression and techniques, this class will explore craft essentials, read and write alongside great poets, and provide an introduction to the workshop model.
Instructor: Aimee Suzara. Engage with poetry and spoken word by Asian and Asian American writers identifying themes of belonging and otherness, homeland and loss, as well as the current climate of anti-Asian sentiment and how we challenge it by telling our stories.
Instructor: Asa Drake. In this generative workshop, we'll cover essential elements of long and short-form reviews and address practical aspects of writing criticism.
Instructor: Margot Leitman. Students will learn to dig inside their own lives to find humorous and relatable material that unifies an audience, with additional focus on getting through the fear of being judged for candor.
Instructor: Deborah Woodard. Visiting local museums, we'll write poems and/or short prose in response to the art we observe, with weekly prompts, class read-arounds, and instructor feedback.
Instructor: Grace Bialecki. Through close readings and sharing their work aloud, students will practice hearing dialogue and identifying techniques to keep their writing emotive and original.
Instructor: Beth Slattery. Using generative writing, reading, and an introduction to the workshop model, we will investigate our own personal stories, exploring craft elements such as points of view, scene, reflection, and form.
Instructor: Jodie Hollander. For anyone interested in the transformative and healing power of poetry, we'll read, examine, and write effective and powerful poetry addressing grief and pain.
Instructor: Kimberly Lee. For beginner and seasoned writers alike, this generative workshop will serve as a safe haven for exploration and self-expression with engaging prompts designed to awaken your imagination.
Instructor: Andrew Zawacki. Dive into the work of radical midcentury Brazilian writer Clarice Lispector, widely recognized for the volatile strangeness of her writing, which pushes language, genre, sexuality, and the experience of self to their limits.
Instructor: Cara Stoddard. Students will generate and share their own nonfiction that spotlights the uniquely queer aspects of familial intimacy.
Instructor: Jennifer Haupt. Students will workshop the first ten pages of their book, learning to balance backstory, present action, and foreshadowing.
Instructor: Anastacia-Reneé. This generative class will explore the work of poets from Furious Flower, the nation’s first academic center for Black poetry, engaging with each poet’s voice, interrogating format and structure, and much more.
Instructor: Rachel Sobel. This course will introduce students to the craft of fiction and the basics of the workshop model.
Instructor: Tina Tocco. This class is geared towards writing for ages 8–12 and offers opportunity for writers to workshop, analyze published work, delve into the revision process, and participate in in-class writing.
