Fairy Tales as Inspiration [Cara Diaconoff]
Intermediate / Advanced | Fairy tales and folk tales are among the oldest story forms in the world and also the most versatile. In this class, we’ll read tales from the Brothers Grimm, Hans Christian Andersen, and Russian and African folk traditions, as well as contemporary writers such as Angela Carter and Michael Cunningham, and use these to generate story ideas. Students will produce and discuss 1-2 stories. We’ll also do in-class exercises from suggested prompts.
