This lively and imaginative class is perfect for adventurous writers working on their first play—whether you’re trying out a new genre or are at the very beginning of your writing journey. Each week, we'll explore scenes from contemporary plays and explore topics like character, dialogue, plot, worldbuilding, and more! This introductory class includes both in-class generative writing and weekly assignments. Writers can expect to leave this class with a detailed plot and the beginning of a full-length play.

ADDITIONAL CLASS DETAILS:  

  • This class includes:  
    • Generative Writing: students create new work during class or from assignments.
    • Reading: class engages in close study of one or more works.
  • Work outside of class: 1-2 hours of writing or reading outside of class.

Danielle Mohlman is a nationally produced playwright based in Seattle, WA. She is a company member at Dacha Theatre, where she serves as the Associate Producer of Literary Management, and a thought partner at The Trust.
