This class is dedicated to the role of storytelling in finding relief from distress. Students in this course will learn how to use storytelling for personal and communal reclamation, including confronting historical pain. Students will understand the role of personal storytelling in counteracting the impact of trauma and gain skills in using storytelling toward their empowerment. This course will include a discussion component and the development of a new piece.

Zain Shamoon is a professor of couple and family therapy at Antioch University Seattle. He hold his PhD in Human Development and Family Studies. He is the host and founder of the Narratives of Pain storytelling showcase.
