Plot: It’s Not a Four-Letter Word [Michael Shilling]
All Levels | We’ll examine how to build and revise plots for short stories and novels that grow organically out of a character’s choices, context, and desires. In doing so, we’ll encourage narratives that are rich in drama—not melodrama. While this is a class focused around student work of short stories and/or novels, we will also examine published work that combines interior depth and exterior circumstance to thrilling effect.
This class will skip the class meeting on 1/23. The instructor will work out a make-up session for that class with students.
