Poetic Loitering: The Braided Poem and Pleasure of Digression [Kendra DeColo]
Intermediate | Italo Calvino writes: “digression is a strategy for putting off the ending, a multiplying of time within the work, a perpetual evasion or flight.” In this workshop we will explore strategies for taking our time in a poem, as a way to delay and enhance the power of the ending. We will experiment with techniques and read work by Ellen Bass, Ross Gay, Diane Seuss, and others who employ meandering in order to widen the possibilities of a narrative.
