ABOUT YEARLONG CLASSES AT HUGO HOUSE

In weekly meetings over the course of the 2014-2015 academic year, class will provide advanced and dedicated writers with an intensive path toward finishing a publishable draft of a book. Whether you are early in the writing process or already have a rough draft, this yearlong course will help you set and active clear goals, as well as write and revise with intention. The first third of the class will focus on developing proficiency with the writing tools (craft elements) that you will need to use, and the remaining two thirds of the class will be comprised of workshops and writing toward personally devised deadlines. At the end of the year, there will be a two-day, weekend-long intensive on the book business and finding a market for your book, and Hugo House will host a culminating celebration and reading. Previous workshop experience required.

ABOUT THE YEARLONG CLASS IN PROSE

An updated version of last year’s first-ever yearlong class at Hugo House, this advanced course is for students working on either fiction or nonfiction. The class will contain a mix of genres, and the models we look at will be from excellent contemporary literary fiction and nonfiction.

No class Nov. 25, Dec. 16, Dec. 23, Dec. 30, Jan. 6, April 7.

Publishing Intensive Weekend: May 16 and May 17, 1–4 P.M.

Most classes are offered at a general and member tuition rates based on instruction hours, with Hugo House members receiving a 10% discount on classes fewer than six sessions.

Early bird discounts are available during the first two weeks of registration and apply to both general and member tuition rates.

To help provide financial accessibility to our class offerings, some classes each quarter are offered with a sliding-scale tuition model, allowing students to pay what they can for the class. For these classes, tuition increments starting at $5 and going up to 125% of the standard pricing will be listed on the page.

Hugo House will only process refund requests that are submitted 5 business days or more before the class start date. To request a refund, log in to your account, go to “My Account,” select the “Orders” tab on the left-hand side, click the appropriate order, and request a refund for your specific class. Administrative fees apply. Please see our full refund policy here.

Class sessions may be recorded if a session falls on a holiday, or if a student has access needs. Class recordings are not guaranteed.
