Short Story Immersive
Intermediate | Ideal for students who have some craft experience, this class offers students the structure to create and refine their short stories. In six weeks, students will write and revise a short story of up to 25 pages, devoting close attention to character development and narrative voice. The class will read and analyze short stories by Salman Rushdie, Haruki Murakami, Joyce Carol Oates, Francine Prose, Ernest Hemingway, and Kazuo Ishiguro, paying attention to craft fundamentals such as character development, voice, time, setting, and point of view. Radhika Sharma is the author of Parikrama: A Collection of Short Stories and Mangoes for Monkeys: A Novel. Radhika received her MFA from the San Francisco State University. Her byline has appeared in several newspapers and magazines including The San Francisco Chronicle, The San Jose Mercury News, India Currents, Tri City Voice, and others. She is currently at work on a novel and a collection of essays.
