Six Poems in Six Weeks [Carolyne Wright]
We will write six poems (or more!) in six weeks. We’ll focus on six poetic types: elegy, epistle (letter poem), imitation, ode, pastoral, and panegyric (praise or celebration). We’ll work in lyric and narrative modes and deepen our knowledge of contemporary poetics by trying experimental and nonce strategies. We’ll read and discuss key poems each week for ideas and inspiration. Readings, discussions, and instructor feedback will guide the writing process from drafting to revision. The instructor will hold an individual conference with each student.
