Structuring the Longer Form, Section II [Jennie Shortridge]
Whether you’re writing a novel, memoir, or narrative nonfiction* book, you will need to build a scaffold off which to hang your story. This is the most confounding part of craft to master, yet so important. Your framework must feel organic and true, and compel readers ever onward. All are welcome to this class, whether currently writing a book or just thinking about it. However, it will help to have a story in mind, as you will complete several exercises for crafting a story’s structure. We will study classic and other forms, and you will leave understanding how to use basic tools and resources to create effective story arcs.
*Not recommended for informational or self-help nonfiction.
