Structuring the Lyric Essay [Jessica Mooney]

All Levels | Is your essay or memoir in-progress not coming together structurally? You are not alone! This class will serve as a welcome space to brainstorm and troubleshoot this common challenge. Students will read multigenre works from writers who push the boundaries of storytelling, such as Maggie Nelson, Hanif Abdurraqib, Claudia Rankine, Mary Ruefle, Solmaz Sharif, and Elissa Washuta. Classes will be structured around a one-hour workshop of student essays followed by a discussion of assigned text.
