The Sentence: Acoustics, Syntax, and Style [Matt Bell]
In this session, we will unpack the many choices a fiction writer makes as he or she moves from sentence to sentence, including the rhythms and sounds that present themselves within each individual sentence. We will accomplish this by dissecting and discussing examples from contemporary writers in the vein of those Gary Lutz once described as recognizing “the sentence as the one true theater of endeavor,” and through their examples we will find new ways to awaken the power lying dormant in our prose.
