The Wild Self Part I [Sonya Lea]
Intermediate. A day to study and generate writing on the ways that nature and environment writing can intersect with personal essays and memoir. With the fading of the romanticism of nature wilderness, writing is potentially more honest, respectful, and scientific. Using examples from H is for Hawk, Surfacing, and more, we’ll delve into passages on grief, loss, joy, fear, and how wilderness can provide a greater ecological and emotional understanding of our lives. Can be taken on its own, but pairs well with The Wild Self Part II.
