Untangling the Craft of Time
One reason editors reject manuscripts from very good writers is because those otherwise competent writers can’t seem to manage the structure of their own narratives. These writers have difficulty with the architecture of their novels and stories because they seem confused about the nature of Time and how to manipulate Time effectively in a narrative. So we’ll talk about Time – Big Time and Little Time – and how its integration into a narrative infuses coherence into a story and ultimately expands, or contracts, the consciousness on the page. Participants, if they wish, may bring a short selection of their work to be discussed.
