Word Works Workshop [Kelly Link]
Work with Pulitzer Prize finalist in fiction, Kelly Link, author of Get in Trouble, Magic for Beginners, Stranger Things Happen, and more. You will have the first five pages of your story or novel chapter reviewed during class. Kelly Link will review your entire story or novel chapter. Please follow the directions below following your registration. There will be a one-hour lunch break each session.
After registering:
- Email christine@hugohouse.org your [story], or [novel chapter & one-page novel synopsis] by August 31. Your story or novel chapter can be up to 6,000 words. Kelly Link will review the entirety of your submission.
- You will receive an email on September 1 with the first 5 pages of your fellow students’ submission.
- Read all excerpts, and come to class prepared to talk about the DNA encoded in the first five pages — especially in the first few opening paragraphs. What are you hoping for from the rest of the story/novel? What do you think the story is about? What does the language promise, and what is the thing that excites you?
