Writing in the Field [Rachel Kessler]
Frank O’Hara walked the streets of Manhattan on his lunch break, sometimes stopping to type the beginning of a poem at the Olivetti showroom, which eventually brought about Lunch Poems. We will read and study the prose and poetry of place and then experiment with gathering sounds, words, and images from the streets and city around us via walking observation. Through writing prompts and exploration, we will write the poetry of the everyday.
