We’ll stretch ourselves, focusing each week on a specific element of poetic craft. Within one poem—even within one line—poets create meaningful simultaneity using image, metaphor, music, sound, syntax, lineation, structure, and an engagement with the unsaid. We will investigate that simultaneity and work toward poetic coherence; that is, a sustained balance of these elements of poetic craft working together with imagination, experiences, and observations. Let’s get poetical. Just call me Coach Peñaloza.
Due to COVID-19, all classes will take place online until further notice. If there's a possibility that your class might take place in person, you will be notified in advance. Even if classes can be held in person, there will always be a hybrid option to participate via Zoom.
