Character is an element of fiction that is often discussed in writing workshops. But there’s a difference between creating character studies or sketches and employing fully-realized characters in the service of a piece of fiction. Through brief examples from novels and short stories as well as in-class exercises, character essentials will be discussed and explored as a means for writing fiction that feels both authentic and authentically populated.
Due to COVID-19, all classes will take place online-either through Zoom or through Wet Ink, our asynchronous learning platform-through Spring quarter 2021.
All times are listed in Pacific Time.
