Start the New Year right with an all-level generative poetry workshop using guided writing prompts. Bring a notebook, pen, and your willingness to experiment with a mix of fixed forms, instructions, riffs, imitations, and bizarre premises. Expect to leave with six new poems. We will mine the goods from poems by Kay Ryan, Ellen Bass, Natalie Diaz, James Tate, and others. There will be limited critical feedback; this class is about making poems, not fixing them.
Martha Silano's most recent books are Reckless Lovely (Saturnalia, 2014) and, with Kelli Russell Agodon, The Daily Poet: Day-By-Day Prompts For Your Writing Practice (Two Sylvias Press, 2013). She edits Crab Creek Review and teaches at Bellevue College.
