Point of View in Fiction

All Levels | Many writers assume point of view in fiction is intuitively selecting from either first-person or third-person perspective . . .and go! But understanding what goes into that deceptively simple choice is crucial for the fiction writer seeking to crack open their novel or story. We will dig more deeply into the benefits and challenges of each perspective, peel back the layers of narration, explore narrative distance, and why we so often confuse our narrators with our characters. We’ll do a fun writing exercise at the end that will cement our understanding of all these concepts.
