Drawing on techniques of synesthesia, movement, sensory immersion, myth-making, and eco-poetics, we’ll explore what new creatures of the sun we attract with our individual and collaborative heliotropic experiments. This class is open to writers and linguistic experimenters of any genre. Perhaps you want to create a setting for your novel, or embellish the atmosphere of an essay or poem, or simply begin moving in a field of sensory language to create new work. No matter your starting place, by the end you’ll go home with new written work and a more vibrant appreciation of the sensory world.
Due to COVID-19, all classes will take place online-either through Zoom or through Wet Ink, our asynchronous learning platform-through Spring quarter 2021.
All times are listed in Pacific Time.
