In this class, we’ll draw inspiration from the notion that poetry begins at home by writing alongside, and visiting with, four local poets: Quenton Baker, Priscilla Long, Melanie Noel, and Anastacia Tolbert. These “close-to-home” encounters will help us begin to understand the range of perspectives that create the intellectual and aesthetic world of Seattle in the present moment. We’ll consider different takes on being productive practicing poets—not just on the page but out in the world, as well.
